Joy has an M.S. in Clinical Counseling Health Psychology from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and a B.A. in Psychology & Communication from La Salle University. Joy is Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the District of Colombia and a National Certified Counselor (NCC).

Individual and Family Therapy Services

Joy is a Psychotherapist at District Therapy Associates. Throughout her career Joy has provided individual and group therapy and other services to diverse populations including children, adolescents, adults, and families experiencing anxiety, depression, anger, ADHD, low self-esteem, trauma including sexual assault, drug and alcohol use, autism spectrum disorders, and involvement in the foster care system.

Ethics Trainings and Consultation

Joy previously served as the Ethics Specialist for the American Counseling Association (ACA). Joy is a self-professed counseling ethics nerd who loves sharing her knowledge and experience with counselors though consultations and trainings to assist them in practicing ethically.

A native of southern California, Joy has lived and worked in Philadelphia and the Bay Area but is happy to now call the DC metro home. She is passionate about mental health, supporting youth and families, ethics, advocacy, and ultimately building a brighter future for mental health providers and those they serve.
